The triptych presents a soft gradation of texture, ranging from gray to black. This texture is closely related to the grains of the photograph itself, but is in fact an image of asphalt, a surface that the artist has already explored extensively. Laet combines this element with another already explored element: liquid and its ability to transform whatever it touches, thus creating a wet atmosphere, which is not by chance called “Rain”.
Biography
Maria Laet
Attentive to the spaces and surfaces around her, artist Maria Laet explores the urban universe in a variety of ways. She produces drawings, engravings, paintings, photographs and videos. Her most recent exhibitions include those at the Maria Antônia University Center, the 18th Sydney Biennial, Somerset House (London), Itaú Cultural, the Niterói Museum of Contemporary Art, Paço das Artes and the Juan Malpica Mimendi Photo Library (Mexico).
