The red line design unifies in a single stroke several scenes associated with romance and love, according to online image search engines. Stereotypes of marital happiness are juxtaposed as a panel of models of happiness to be pursued, or at least reproduced to take new photos that can be added to the ocean of different, yet identical, images that fill social networks.

Biography

Leda Catunda - Carbono Galeria

Leda Catunda

b. 1961, São Paulo (SP), Brazil | Lives and works in São Paulo (SP), Brazil.

Leda Catunda works with the objects, materials and symbols we consume to define our identity, taste and image. As a result, her field of reference has multiplied exponentially in recent decades, to the present situation in which the constitution of the individual image has consolidated itself as the greatest catalyst for energy, resources and time for a huge portion of the global population. Speed, plurality and repetition have therefore become inescapable subjects for the artist's reflection.

Among her solo exhibitions, the highlights are the exhibition "I Love You Baby", at the Tomie Ohtake Institute, in São Paulo (2016), the exhibition "Recent Paintings", at the Oscar Niemeyer Museum (Curitiba, 2013) and which also toured to MAM Rio (Rio de Janeiro, 2013); in addition to "Leda Catunda: 1983-2008", a retrospective exhibition held at Estação Pinacoteca (São Paulo, 2009).

One of the leading figures of the so-called Generation 80, the artist was featured in the anthology "Como Vai Você, Geração 80?", Parque Lage (Rio de Janeiro, 1984); and "Pintura como Meio", MAC-USP (São Paulo, 1983). Her career also includes participation in three São Paulo Biennials (1994, 1985 and 1983), as well as the Mercosul Biennial (Porto Alegre, 2001) and the Havana Biennial (Cuba, 1984). Her work is present in several public collections, such as: Inhotim Institute (Brumadinho); MAM Rio de Janeiro; ARCO Foundation (Madrid, Spain); Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam, Netherlands); as well as Pinacoteca do Estado, MAC-USP, MASP, MAM (all in São Paulo).
