Inserted in the triangular space, the artist performs within it, taking ownership of this unusual area, creating relationships between its limits and her movements. We do not know for sure whether she wants to break away from the triangle, to free herself, or whether she is supporting herself on the edges of the acute angle.

Celina Portella

b. 1977, Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Brazil | Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Brazil.

Celina Portella investigates issues related to the representation of the body through video and photography. She was awarded the 1st Program for the Promotion of Rio de Janeiro Culture in Visual Arts, the Support Grant for Creation from the State Secretariat of Culture, and the grant from the Art and Technology Center of EAV Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro. She won an award at the 2nd Fundaj Video Art Competition in Recife and participated in a residency at the Centre international d'accueil et d'échanges des Récollets in Paris and the LABMIS residency at the Museum of Image and Sound in São Paulo, among others. Among her participations in group exhibitions, the highlights are "Nova Arte Nova" at the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center (Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo); "III Mostra do Programa de Exposições do Centro Cultural São Paulo"; "Mostra SESC de Artes" (São Paulo); "60o Salão de Abril" (Fortaleza); and the "15o Salão da Bahia". As a dancer and co-creator, she worked with choreographers Lia Rodrigues and João Saldanha.
