Caetano Dias' work has the body as one of its axes. It is important to emphasize that it is the body understood broadly, immersed in a given space, in a given culture, as well as in history. A body in a constant process of constitution and dissolution that, like memory, another of the great recurring issues in his works, is made of marks and forgetfulness. The questions about the body are very broad and involve eroticism and ephemerality, that is, its relationship with the world and with others, as well as with death. The ideas developed by Georges Bataille, an author who emphasizes the intrinsic connection of eroticism with the sacred and with death, allow access to Caetano's poetics. As a state of dissolution, eroticism, whether of bodies, hearts or explicitly linked to the sacred, reaches what is most intimate in us, ignites the desire to exceed limits, leading to the deepest depths that can be reached, to an intimacy where the self expands and dissolves. The artist's works reveal human restlessness, present in the enigmas of the body and rooted in the awareness of death.
