In " Attempt: Unplumb", a hammer pressed against a wall loses its function of removing nails. One end of a plumb line is wrapped around its handle, extending until it almost touches the ground with its heavier, metal end. This end, which would serve as a tool for building walls, is completely walled up, surrounded by mini bricks. Between the hammer and the walled end of the plumb line, there is a chess pawn that appears as a link between two gallows knots that divide the plumb line in half. A stagnant pendulum - a state of nullification.

Daniel Murgel

b. 1981, Niterói (RJ), Brazil | Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Brazil.

Daniel Murgel's poetry and language explore the contemporary perspective around one of the most important values: habitat. Through his spontaneous anthropological and urban research, he draws sketches and projects, which are often built on a human scale.

Among the group exhibitions, the following stand out: "Distant Worlds/Nearby Places" (Fortaleza Museum of Contemporary Art); "Home, City, World" (Helio Oiticica Municipal Art Center, in Rio de Janeiro); "Boiling Point" (PSM gallery in Berlin); "Love and Hate for Lygia Clarck" (Zacheta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw); "Experimenting Spaces 2" (Brazilian House Museum in São Paulo); "Mirrors: on the Path to Wonders" (Haroldo Conti Cultural Center, in Buenos Aires); and "New Acquisitions by Gilberto Chateaubriand" (MAM-RJ).

He also participated in the Rumos de Artes Visuais program in 2011 and Bolsa Pampulha at the Pampulha Art Museum (BH) in 2010. He was awarded at the 64th Salão de Abril and the IPHAN Art and Heritage Merit Award.
