“Marã” derives from the Tupi language and means “work,” evoking ideas of effort, transformation, and continuity. Camille Kachani's work uses this concept to reflect on the relationships between nature and culture, memory and erasure, linked to the process of colonization. In it, the hammer, a tool of work, takes root and transforms into a living organism, symbolizing the growth and vitality of the traditions that form Brazil.
Among the roots, the artist incorporates beads, artificial green plants, and golden details that allude to national colors and symbols. These materials, present in popular culture, acquire new meaning when combined with sculpture, suggesting the coexistence of colonial heritages and ancestral knowledge. With subtlety and formal rigor, Kachani transforms everyday objects into poetic images that invite reflection on the construction and permanence of Brazilian identities.
