Carbono Galeria presents the 30th anniversary edition of the Leonilson Project, a collaboration that recovers 30 drawings created by the artist in the last years of his life to illustrate Barbara Gancia's column in Folha de S.Paulo. Selected from this intimate dialogue between friend and artist, the works reveal the power with which Leonilson transformed news, conversations, and everyday events into visual thought, always between irony, criticism, and poetry.
For this edition, the illustrations were carefully reproduced using silkscreen printing, respecting the original format and incorporating dry embossing, preserving the delicacy of the lines, gestures, and silences that make up its graphic universe.
The collaboration with Projeto Leonilson, an institution that has preserved, researched, and disseminated his work for three decades, reaffirms Carbono's commitment to celebrating fundamental artists in Brazilian history. This edition marks an encounter between preservation and reinvention. It revisits drawings created for the newspaper and returns them to the public as a collection, revealing the surprising relevance with which Leonilson interpreted the world.
A tribute to the power of words, to the humor that permeates the design, and to the sensitivity that continues to resonate 30 years later.
