The “Fragile Tritone” multiple , developed especially for Carbono, rethinks the solidity of iron and brass triangles, reconstituting them in glass. The delicacy of the material prevents it from being touched with conventional physical force, making it mainly silent.

Although the triangle has been placed in a very unglamorous place in the hierarchy of Western instruments, the triangle originated in Egypt. Its origins are ritualistic, it is a kind of witness and artifact of the mystical matrix of all popular music.

Her main inspiration came from her “Silent Walks”, a performance and collective urban exploration work that the artist carried out monthly from 2012 to 2016. During these walks, the participating group remained in silence for eight hours, visiting spaces of intense sound or musical activity, religious spaces or nature where the group rethought its sociability without the use of verbal language.

The work was developed for the second edition of the Collector's Edition project, a collaboration between collector Georgiana Rothier and the artist.

Biography

Vivian Caccuri - Carbono Galeria

Vivian Caccuri

b. 1986, São Paulo (SP), Brazil | Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Brazil.

Vivian Caccuri uses sound as a vehicle to cross perception experiments on issues related to historical and social conditioning. Through objects, installations and performances, her works create situations that disorient daily experience and, consequently, interrupt meanings and narratives that are apparently as ingrained as the cognitive structure itself. With her performances and installations, she has participated in the Venice, São Paulo, Mercosul and India Biennials. Vivian has had works commissioned by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Detroit, the Serpentine Galleries in London, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Miami, MASP, Röda Sten in Gothenburg and HighLine New York.

Vivian holds a degree in Fine Arts from Universidade Estadual Paulista and a Master's degree in Music/Sound Studies from UFRJ. She has two published books: "O que Faço é Música" (What I Do is Music), which investigates the first vinyl records made by visual artists in Brazil, published by 7Letras and won the Funarte Prize for Critical Production in Music in 2013. Published by Bloomsbury NYC, the compilation Making it Heard: A History of Brazilian Sound Art includes Vivian's first book translated into English.
