“Achromatic object” associates an object with a silkscreen print that refers to its original color.

Achromia is the name given to a disorder in which there is a decrease or absence of pigments, causing imperfections in color references. For example, in the case of albinos, it is the absence or defect of an enzyme involved in the production of melanin. In the case of achromic objects, it is the change or absence of color of a symbolic object, such as a Sicilian lemon that was born non-yellow.

Biography

Carlos Nunes - Carbono Galeria

Carlos Nunes

b. 1969, São Paulo (SP), Brazil | Lives and works in São Paulo (SP), Brazil.

Having studied Fine Arts at the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation in São Paulo, Carlos Nunes worked as a designer for several years and began his career as a visual artist in 2008. According to Jacopo Crivelli Visconti, the most personal aspect of Carlos Nunes' modus operandi is that although his works always have a remarkable visual appeal, what really characterizes them is not the formal aspect, but the way in which the forms are constructed, or rather, imagined, planned and, finally, accepted, without retouching, just the way they are.

His solo exhibitions include: "Phototaxis", Galeria Raquel Arnaud, São Paulo, 2017; "Days of objects in cloudy light", Museu Soares dos Reis in Porto, Portugal, 2016; "And if things keep us quiet?", Galeria Ponce+Robles, Madrid, 2016; "Modus operandi", Galeria Raquel Arnaud, São Paulo, 2013; and "Triumph of colors, love and music over the evil blues", Centro de Cultura Británico, São Paulo, 2010.

Her group shows include: "Action and Reaction", Casa do Brasil in Madrid, 2018; "code", Galeria Osnova Moscow, 2017; "If not all weapons, at least cannons", Matadero, Madrid, 2014; "Affinities. Raquel Arnaud 40 years", Instituto Tomie Ohtake, São Paulo, 2014; "The revolution has to be made little by little", Galeria Raquel Arnaud, São Paulo, 2012; and "Boîte Invaliden", Galeria Invaliden, Berlin, Germany, 2011. She completed a residency in Matadero, Madrid, in 2014 and at Espaço T, Porto, Portugal in 2016.

His works are part of collections such as Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo; MAC USP; Museu de Arte do Rio - MAR, RJ; and the Helga de Alvear collection, Madrid, Spain.
