The work, done exclusively for Carbono Galeria, consists of six stainless steel cattle markers, used during the colonization period to mark slaves. These stamps are made from the logos of six multinational companies, all associated with the degeneration of natural and human resources and the emission of polluting gases.

The work symbolizes the negative reflection of capitalism and the false idea of progress of large companies. The logos shown are of the companies: " Zara, Nike, Hannes, Volkswagen, Samarco and Petrobras".

Biography

Karlo Andrei Ibarra - Carbono Galeria

Karlo Andrei Ibarra

b. 1982, San Juan, Puerto Rico | Lives and works in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Using sculptures, installations and videos, the Puerto Rican artist comments on the social, political and economic situation of developing countries.

“My work is strongly related to the political context in which I live. I use different media that refer to conceptual art and mass media to comment on political, social, cultural and geographical issues.”

In "Speeches", presented in 2009 in Puerto Rico, the artist records political campaigns presented to the population in 2008, and places bananas on the microphone, symbolizing the trivialization of these speeches.

He participated in the Third Bucharest Biennial in 2008, in the last two Polygraph Triennials of San Juan in 2009 and 2012, in the second Moscow Biennial and in the Biennial of the Americas in 2010. His solo exhibitions include: "SincretITSMOs", at the Museo de Arte y Diseño Contemporáneo de San José, Costa Rica, in 2013; "La suerte está echada", Place for Projects, Caguas, Puerto Rico, in 2012; "Hasta la victoria miente", Rica Gallery, San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 2011; among others.
