For this new edition, Francisco resumes his research on utilities and their implications in objects such as cabinets, drawers and glass cabinets. This time, he seeks to emphasize a particular element within these objects: the drawer.

In his reflection on the drawer, Nuk finds references in the short stories of Jorge Luis Borges, especially in "Funes, the Memorioso". In this short story, Borges creates a character capable of remembering all the details of his life, a true storehouse of information. However, Funes is incapable of thinking, creating or planning, because his mind is overloaded with the past.

The relationship between Francisco's work and the character occurs when the artist interprets the drawer as the main means of immortalizing a memory. For him, everything we keep in a drawer is important, because when we open it, these memories can be revived. However, for Nuk, memories are also important forms of creation. Unlike Funes, we can never remember all the details of the past, we only select parts that marked us. Thus, when we revisit a memory, we create new elements and new representations.

Francisco's work invites us to reflect on the act of keeping and forgetting, and how these two processes become catalysts for life.

Francisco Nuk

b. 1990, Belo Horizonte (MG), Brazil | Lives and works in Belo Horizonte (MG), Brazil.

Nuk carries with him an artistic background from other generations. From an early age, he was naturally introduced and encouraged to study different artistic expressions. From the Baroque, characteristic of his region of origin, to the contemporary, an expression produced by his parents. As a teenager, he had his first contact with fine carpentry by taking courses in the craft. He spent the beginning of his adulthood traveling and studying the same craft, extensively studying the material and techniques applied. Back in Brazil, he worked in his father's studio producing his works and structuring his own studio. During this period, he was encouraged to be creative and to produce his work, which is expressed through the combination of his origins and lived experiences.
