Maria Lynch's works feature intense colors that seem to illuminate their surroundings. Hybrid figures, without a defined form and that seem moldable due to their tactile appeal, are present in drawings, paintings, objects, sculptures, videos and installations. In 2014, the artist completed a residency at Residency Unlimited (Brooklyn) with the support of a scholarship from Oi Futuro. She graduated from Chelsea College of Art & Design (London), where she completed her postgraduate and master's degrees in 2008. Her major exhibitions include those held at Oi Futura (Rio de Janeiro), Paço Imperial (Rio de Janeiro), the 6th Curitiba Biennial, the Niterói Museum of Contemporary Art, the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo) and the Jerwood Space (London). His works are in important public collections in Brazil, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art of Niterói, the Candido Mendes Cultural Center, the BGA Collection, and the collection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Itamaraty Palace (Brasília).
