The photograph on cotton paper depicts a ceiling seen from different angles. In this work, which is part of the “Ceilings” series, we see a wooden ceiling that, cut out and placed in different perspectives, approaches the abstract through its geometric composition.

Daniel Feingold - Carbono Galeria

Daniel Feingold

b. 1954, Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Brazil | Lives and works between Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Brazil and New York, United States.

With a solid academic background, Daniel Feingold moves between painting, photography and sculpture. His work inhabits the boundaries of the figurative and abstract and leaves open to the viewer the possibility of giving it meaning, with geometric compositions.

It is part of the collection of MAM – São Paulo, and has won awards at the Carioca and National Salons of Visual Arts, both in Rio de Janeiro. He participated in the 5th Mercosul Biennial (2005) and other group exhibitions, such as “Aprofundamento”, at the Parque Lage School of Visual Arts (Rio de Janeiro, 1991); the 15th Carioca Salon and the 17th National Salon of Visual Arts (Rio de Janeiro, 1991), having won first prize in both; “Crossing Lines – Art in General”, in New York; “O beijo”, at the Paço Imperial (Rio de Janeiro, 1998); “Gestural Drawings”, at the Neuhoff gallery (New York, 2000). In 2007, he was part of the group exhibition “Minus Space”, in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, and Wellington, New Zealand. In 2010, he participated in a group show at the Maria Teresa Vieira Art Center (Rio de Janeiro), and also in “The Machine Eats”, at the Frederico Sève Gallery (New York). Recently, he participated in group exhibitions such as “Brazilian Art and Then in the Itaú Collection”, at the Paço Imperial (Rio de Janeiro, 2011); “Kinetic and Constructive”, at the Carbono Gallery (São Paulo, 2013); “Affinities”, at the Tomie Ohtake Institute (São Paulo, 2014); and “40-Year Trajectory”, at the Raquel Arnaud Gallery (São Paulo, 2014).
