In this issue, Rachel Whiteread presents us with a ghostly white sculpture based on a set of vintage dollhouse furniture. The arrangement of the objects mimics the way second-hand furniture stores display their products.

This theme, the subtle observation of human beings about everyday life, is widely explored by the artist, who sees the home as an inexhaustible source of questions and creations. Through poetic and elegant sculptures, the artist explores the relationship between space, absence and memory.

"Secondhand" is realized through advanced three-dimensional printing technique.

Rachel Whiteread

Rachel Whiteread is part of the generation of British artists known as the Young British Artists. The artist once made a concrete cast of an entire house that was demolished, and Rachel placed the concrete cast on the site of the old house. She has made other installations in which she recreated entire environments in resin, or simply the negatives of objects, such as the voids beneath chairs and tables.
