Adriano Costa’s choice of materials makes clear his interest in things that do not belong to inherently artistic subjects and processes. Furthermore, the breadth of his methods of composition and arrangement of disparate elements invariably frustrates those who try to link his practice to specific repertoires of a given artistic movement or geographic context. The core of his work is perhaps precisely the possibility of suspending the hierarchies and separations that we attribute to the fragments of our material culture. Thus, when equated, objects and forms can be recombined in arbitrary arrangements that nevertheless formulate precise comments on how and with what we choose to live.
