Visually influenced by references from the city of São Paulo, the beginning of Rodrigo Sassi's artistic career was marked by the development and practice of urban interventions, a time when he experienced and used the city as a support for action, reflection and inspiration for his work. Over time, this research, until then carried out in the urban setting, became an aesthetic and conceptual reference for work developed in the studio, today dedicated mainly to three-dimensional art, expanding into other media.
Taking architecture, urban landscapes and processes related to civil construction as a starting point, Sassi's works adopt the relationship between these areas and the visual arts as a poetic language, creating, through the use of materials and construction techniques, sculptures and installations that interfere with and integrate with the space, creating their own architecture. As a consequence of the use of materials found on the streets, his works are deeply connected to the local environment and can be seen as an extension of the urban space, so that the marks and traces remaining in the compositions of his works situate the viewer in relation to their history, the path and the process of transformation of the material.
Graduated in Fine Arts from Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado - FAAP (2006), Rodrigo participated in several artistic residencies, including CAMPO AIR in Uruguay (2019), Sculpture Space in the United States (2016) and Cité Internaciolnale des Arts de Paris (2014/2015) in France.
