"As illustrated by the Theory of General Relativity, gravity corresponds to a curvature in the space-time fabric. Understanding these elements through a geometric reading, in three dimensions, meant that such principles were no longer seen as absolute and immutable entities, but rather as an elastic fabric that can be deformed by the incidence of masses, like a trampoline.
In the sphere where we live, we constantly live with the sensation of the weight of our own bodies, except in those moments when we fall in free fall, following the curve that gravity draws in this spatial plane. This is caused by the deformation of the web that surrounds us, by the incidence of the mass of this round shape that allows us to rest, upright, attracting us to its center. In this orb, paper and a solid sphere of graphite, each with its own specific mass, plunge together, side by side, in the same spatial trajectory, reaching the ground at the same instant - the smallest appreciable space of time, a place of punctual encounter, the intersection of two lines located in an infinite web, where they push, slow down or let objects roll.
In 'The Fish', a work composed of a solid graphite sphere, a thin sheet of Japanese paper and a support ring, I explore - through the physical forms of the materials most used in drawing - reflections on the relationship between three-dimensionality and the mass, space and time that surround us, and their influence on the weight of our bodies."
