Biography

Túlio Pinto - Carbono Galeria

Tulio Pinto

b. 1974, Brasília (DF), Brazil | Lives and works in Porto Alegre (RS), Brazil.

Over the last few years, Túlio Pinto has been developing research work in sculpture and installation using industrial materials - concrete, metal beams, glass and steel - which are characterized by their composition and the way they are presented and joined together.

The artist's intention is to promote encounters between different potentialities and temperaments, resulting in oppositions that are sustained within the limits of their potential.

These materials, and the way they affect each other, are metaphors for the conditions of existence of the being - transformation and instability, possible balances and encounters, time and space - and are transformed into objects of experience and reflection.

Among his most recent exhibitions, the following stand out: "Hole in the Sky", at the Oscar Niemeyer Museum, Curitiba, in 2023; "Ballast and Tensions. Deformations and Reception" and "Hole in the Sky", Millan, São Paulo, SP (2022 and 2020); "Landline", Fondamenta Sant'Apollonia and Piero Atchugarry Gallery, Venice, Italy (2019); "41° 23′ 20″ N 2° 10′ 34″ E" and "41° 25′ 21″ N 2° 12′ 32″ E: Three Times", Senda Gallery, Barcelona, Spain; "Athar", Piero Atchugarry Gallery, Garzon, Uruguay (2018); "Ground Control", at Humo Gallery, Zurich, Switzerland (2017); "Onloaded: Túlio Pinto", Phoenix Institute of Contemporary Art (phICA), Phoenix, USA (2015); among others.

Túlio Pinto has also participated in group exhibitions, including: 13th Mercosul Biennial – "Trauma, Dream and Escape", Porto Alegre, RS (2022); "Sartori Collection: Contemporary Art inhabits Antonio Prado", Rio Grande do Sul Art Museum, Porto Alegre, RS (2022); "Le soleil se lève aussi", Manifesta, Lyon, France (2021); "Glass and Concrete", Marta Herford Museum, Herford, Germany (2020); "Reagents", Complesso dell'Ospedaletto, Venice, Italy (2019); "Tension and Dynamism", Piero Atchugarry Gallery, Miami, USA (2018); "Combining Materials" and Rosenfeld Porcini Gallery, London, UK.
