"It is the point of view that creates the object and Claudio Edinger has explored in his works the resource known as selective focus, which allows us to bring together in the same frame the scope of the landscape – which in the generous enlargement almost also encapsulates the viewer – with the richness of details of elements, or selected areas.
This is the case of "Pienza Capela (2018)", a photograph that diffusely frames kilometers of plains and small hills characteristic of the Tuscan landscape, with the simple Cappella Madonna della Vitaleta, which stands out, illuminated and in focus, on the central road axis. The series offers a complex interaction between perspectives. The photographer's point of view echoes in the attentive spectator, who now has a doubly privileged view: he finds himself in full flight, yet static, in front of the image. In this unique time-space convergence, Edinger's work allows us to peek into the mysterious gears of his world, of our world."

Biography
Claudio Edinger
He graduated in economics from Mackenzie-SP in 1974. His first exhibition was held at MASP in 1975 and, the following year, he moved to New York where he remained for 20 years. He worked as a photographer for numerous publications such as "Folha de S. Paulo", "O Estado de S. Paulo Time", "Newsweek", "Rolling Stones" and "Life Magazine".
Edinger has participated in numerous exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, including at the International Center of Photography (New York); Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris); Museum of Contemporary Art (São Paulo); Museum of Image and Sound/MIS-SP; and Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil (RJ). He has published 18 books, among which the award-winning "Chelsea Hotel" (1984) and "Venice Beach" (1985) stand out. His most recent book, "Machina Mundi", was released in 2017. Throughout his long career, he has received numerous awards: the Leica Award for Excellence in 1983 and 1985, the Ernst Haas Award in 1990, the Higashikawa Award in 1999, the Porto Seguro Award in 2007 and 2011, and the Hasselblad Award in 2011.
His works are part of important collections such as the International Center of Photography in New York; Itaú Cultural, the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art in São Paulo; and the Maison Européene de la Photographie in Paris. In New York he taught courses at the International Center of Photography and, for 15 years, at The New School/Parson's School of Design.
