    BARDI INSTITUTE

The commemorative edition of the Instituto Bardi Casa de Vidro celebrates the irreverent Polochon created by Lina Bo Bardi for Ubu Roi .

  • The Bardi Institute was created in 1990 with the goal of promoting study and research in the areas of architecture, design, urbanism, and Brazilian folk art. Focusing on exhibitions, publications, lectures, and conferences, it provides access to relevant and little-known aspects of the country's architectural thought and production. Furthermore, its mission is to preserve and disseminate the work and innovative thinking of Lina Bo and Pietro Maria Bardi.

  • The couple was responsible for important interventions in the Brazilian cultural scene. Pietro structured the MASP (São Paulo Museum of Art) and invested in the professionalization of the field in the country, while Lina Bo Bardi worked in different fields — design, education, theater, fashion, and the environment. Among her most iconic projects are the MASP, the Sesc Pompeia, and the Glass House, the couple's residence that became an icon of Brazilian modern architecture and today houses the Bardi Institute.

  • Polochon is a commemorative edition celebrating 35 years of the character created by Lina Bo Bardi for the set design of the play Ubu Roi , by Teatro Ornitorrinco. The two-rumped pig, described by the French author Alfred Jarry, gains new life in this 1:4 scale version, with proceeds going to the Bardi Institute. The piece maintains all the irreverence and originality of Lina Bo Bardi.

  • LINA BO BARDI

Lina Bo Bardi was an Italian-Brazilian architect whose research integrated art, design, and popular culture, proposing an architecture committed to daily life and community. Her work investigates the social role of spaces and values the encounter between tradition and modernity as a path to a truly Brazilian expression.
