Developed exclusively for Carbono Galeria, "LAB 2" is created from the meeting of colors - the work begins with the purity of the color and, as new tubes are inserted, the colors gradually mix until they reach the exact proportion of their halves. Despite the precision of the procedure, the work takes on a life of its own when finished - the effects of gravity cause the material to slowly decant, revealing the differences between paint and water, undoing the interactions previously built. The connection between these mini universes created inside the test tube creates a new totality, an expanded environment formed in the form of a landscape. The passage of time together with the movement of the work alters the boundaries between landscape and non-landscape; living within that which dilutes it, the color lives in an eternal risk of suspension between the eventualities of its environment.

The threshold of different densities is in constant transformation, the eternal metamorphosis of the work prevents any static nature of a work that does not change, infinite formation and de-formation.

Biography

Fernanda Zgouridi - Carbono Galeria

Fernanda Zgouridi

b. 1975, Curitiba (PR), Brazil | Lives and works in São Paulo (SP), Brazil.

What defines the horizon is embedded in Fernanda Zgouridi's creative processes - a horizon that is not limited, but expands in the chromatic relationships present in nature and the landscape, using the encounter between colors as a means to this end. The material absence of what actually makes up the horizon coexists in the infinite possibilities that the artist finds to develop her research. This line, sometimes evident, sometimes incorporeal, expresses the artist's intention to translate the void, the impossible. The use of different materials and techniques enhances her research and directs her work - object, photography and painting converge into a particular universe, worlds, that exist within and come to exist outside the artist.

With a degree in Social Communication from Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado and a master's degree in Fashion Management from the Institut Français de la Mode (Paris, France), the artist has participated in several group exhibitions in Brazil and London. “10th Salon of Artists without a Gallery” at the Zipper, Sancovsky and Orlando Lemos galleries in 2019; “Phallic Magic” at Galeria Lamb_arts in 2018; “Entropic Landscape” at São Paulo Fashion Week in 2014; “Trajectories” at Galeria Pintura Brasileira in 2014 and “Uma Coisa são Duas” at Galeria Ímpar and the Mostra Black Casa Cor between 2011 and 2012. In London, she participated in the exhibition “Altrove” at the Ice House Gallery, Holland Park in 2014, as well as taking several courses on the study of color and painting at The Royal Academy of Arts. He was a finalist in the “New Photography 2018” competition at the Museum of Image and Sound and won an Honorable Mention at the 2018 Mundie Photography Awards.
