Lais Myrrha, at first glance, brings images of a cloudy sky closer to the textures and tones of marble slabs.

However, beyond the formal comparison, the continuity of the patterns of the plates obtained from a single block of stone refute the temporality of the photographs that were taken at the same moment, just seconds apart: the continuous cycle of natural elements is in this work a reflection in a broad sense, where the whole connects with the part and, in the same way, phenomena from distant places and elements are similar.

Lais Myrrha

b. 1974, Belo Horizonte (MG), Brazil | Lives and works in São Paulo (SP), Brazil.

Lais Myrrha holds a master's degree from the School of Fine Arts at UFMG, 2007 and a degree in fine arts from the Guignard School, UEMG, 2001.

Since 1998, he has participated in several collective and individual exhibitions, such as "I Bolsa Pampulha" (2003), "Programa Trajetórias" at the Joaquim Nabuco Cultural Center, Recife (2005), and the 2005/2006 Edition of the "Programa Rumos Visuais" at the Itaú Cultural Institute (São Paulo).

In 2007, she was awarded the "Projectiles Award" in Rio de Janeiro and the "Visual Acts Award" in Brasília, both granted by Funarte. In 2010, she participated in "Paralela10" at the Liceu de Artes e Ofícios in São Paulo. In 2011, she participated in the Season of Projects at Paço das Artes in São Paulo and the 8th Mercosul Biennial in Porto Alegre, and was awarded the 1st Itamaraty Contemporary Art Competition in Brasília. In 2012, she was awarded the Visual Arts Incentive Grant granted by Funarte. In 2013, she was selected for the 18th Videobrasil International Contemporary Art Festival and participated in the "Blind Field" exhibition at the Karnnet Museum in Illinois, USA. Also in 2013/2014, he presented the solo exhibition "Zona de Instabilidade" (curated by Júlia Rebouças) at CAIXA Cultural São Paulo and Brasília. In 2014, he carried out the "Gameleira 1971 Project" at Pivô, and participated in the projects "Greve", at the São Paulo Biennial Foundation/SP-Arte and "Ensaio de Orquestra" at Coletor, in São Paulo. In 2016, his work "Dois pesos duas medidas" occupied the main hall of the 32nd São Paulo International Biennial.

He has also recently had solo and group exhibitions: "Reparation of Damages", Broadway 1602 Harlem, New York, United States, (2017); "Avenida Paulista", São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP), São Paulo (2017); "Re-effecter Matter", Galleri Susanne Ottesen, Copenhagen, Denmark (2017); "Brazil, Beauty?!" | Museum Beelden aan Zee - Den Haag, Netherlands (2016); "The Endless Moment", Galeria Jaqueline Martins, São Paulo (2015).
