Julio Le Parc, one of the pioneers of Op art or kinetic art, developed the work Cercles par deplacement, composed of an aluminum structure, printing and mirrors. The work, like most of the artist's production, relies on the participation of the viewer to fully resolve itself, taking into account that the work reacts to the movement of the viewer. Le Parc creates, through line and color, a solid structure that produces light, shadow and movement and makes the form appear to dematerialize.
Biography
Julio Le Parc
One of the founders of the Kinetic Art movement and GRAV (Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel), Julio Le Parc (1928) brings to his work elements that go beyond the search for movement and reflect an interest in the viewer's visual perception.
The artist works with a wide range of techniques, from painting on canvas, to engraving and mobiles, to creating large installations with mirrors, motors and other elements. Le Parc represented Argentina at the Venice Biennale in 1966, winning the Grand Prix Internationale de la Painting as an individual artist.
Le Parc has lived and worked in France since the 1960s. In 2013, he had a major retrospective of his work at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. In celebration of his 90th birthday, he was honored in Buenos Aires with two major exhibitions at the CCK and the Museum of Fine Arts, between 2018 and 2019.
