Julio Le Parc

b. 1928, Palmira, Argentina | Lives and works in Paris, France.

One of the founders of the Kinetic Art movement and GRAV (Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel), Julio Le Parc (1928) brings to his work elements that go beyond the search for movement and reflect an interest in the viewer's visual perception.

The artist works with a wide range of techniques, from painting on canvas, to engraving and mobiles, to creating large installations with mirrors, motors and other elements. Le Parc represented Argentina at the Venice Biennale in 1966, winning the Grand Prix Internationale de la Painting as an individual artist.

Le Parc has lived and worked in France since the 1960s. In 2013, he had a major retrospective of his work at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. In celebration of his 90th birthday, he was honored in Buenos Aires with two major exhibitions at the CCK and the Museum of Fine Arts, between 2018 and 2019. In recent years, he has had other relevant solo shows: " Luz do Mundo" , Museu Oscar Niemeyer, Bienal de Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil (2015); " Form into Action" , Perez Art Museum Miami, USA (2016); " La Longue Marche" , Art Unlimited, Art Basel, Basel, Switzerland (2017); " Julio Le Parc: da forma à ação" , Instituto Tomie Ohtake (ITO), São Paulo/SP, Brazil (2017); " Julio Le Parc 1959" , The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met Beruer), New York/NY, USA (2018),

His works are part of collections such as MoMA, New York; MAM, São Paulo; Tate, London; Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, among others.
